The Delta starts with a large, easy-to-read LCD display, which includes the easiest, most intuitive user interface in metal detecting. The display’s identification meter is crisp and clear, so you’ll know about the treasure you find even before you begin to dig it up. The display also includes an accurate two-digit numerical target ID system, which shows the most likely metal match, along with a running depth indicator that identifies the depths of all the targets in the area (from 0 to more than 8 inches).
Advanced Search Features
The Delta offers two search modes: Discrimination mode and All Metals mode. In Discrimination mode, the Delta will ignore or respond to different metal types, so you can avoid trash metals such as pop cans and foil. By contrast, the All Metals mode searches for every piece of metal in the ground. In addition, the Delta makes it possible to “hear” different target metals thanks to the three-tone audio discrimination. Other features include adjustable sensitivity, a preset ground balance, a battery life indicator, and an overload alarm system.
Specs include an 8-inch open-face coil system and an operating frequency of 7.8 kHz. The Delta is designed to run for up to 25 hours on a single 9-volt battery.

A great start for anyone interested in Metal detecting
To start, I was a complete newbie to metal detecting. I was attracted to this detector because I want to dip my feet into metal detecting. There is a youtube channel(PondGuru for those interested) I watch where the owner shares his metal detecting finds and this inspired me to get into the hobby.
So the review. The great thing about this detector is it’s ease of use. You can assemble the unit fairly quickly right out of the box and a brief glance at the instructions will allow you to know the basics. It does not come with a 9volt battery so you need to have some on hand. I recommend getting some rechargeable ones here on amazon. (No heavy duty ones.)
It is EXTREMELY light weight, not much heavier then a broom and very well balanced while swinging. The coil is not heavy at all either. It is very sturdy and no flopping about or jiggle.
The display is digital and provides nice feedback on targets in the ground. It gives the estimated depth in inches (up to like 8″ or more), while the different modes will tell you what material it is detecting. It outputs a number that can be used to determine material and signal quality… though I found it a bit to bouncy to make accurate determination. You can search for ALL metals, or use the handy discriminate mode which allows you to custom pick and choose which materials are detected while ignoring foil, aluminum pop cans or iron targets like rusty nails. The pin point feature of the detector is nice, as holding the button down allows you to move around and hear a audible tone as you near the target. Great for final “homing in” before picking up a shovel.
I have spent two solid days swinging around in my yard, learning the different tones. I found a variety of junk around my home. A die-cast toy plane (I lost it 20 years ago!), a shot-up fire extinguisher (riddled with bullet holes but the metal detector screamed at me when I was over it), lots of bullet shell casing from hunters, tons of rusty old fashion farm nails, pennies, wire… The people who lived here previously were fairly poor so I don’t expect much. No real amazing finds yet, but I have grown more confident and I am already planning on new sites to visit.
I feel this was a great detector to start with, and I am already interested in perhaps getting a larger coil for deeper detecting. I would also HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting a pinpointer to supplement your hunting. This detector is great for getting on a target, but once you dig you will struggle with finding the item in the hole. A handheld pinpointer is useful because you can probe a hole and locate the item in the side wall or in the loose soil. It will cut your time in a hole down dramatically.
EDIT: I uploaded a youtube video showing my finds over about two afternoon days. Alot of misc. items and junk. Some coins too. Should give you an idea what this detector can do. [...]
EDIT 2: Just a quick quirk I noticed. This detector is sensitive to power lines. If you swing directly near or below a line, what will happen is it will beep sporadically across the spectrum of metals randomly. Dropping down the power sensitivity to a 7 or 8 reduced it. It also did this with our Inground line dog fence. Turning off the fence stopped this false tones. Not a big deal at all, just in case anyone else encounters this.
Great for the $$$
Ive had it about 2 weeks, and used it maye 3 hours. Im not a millionare yet, but have found some cool stuff. The more i use it the better i am with its settings and interpretting tones. So far the LCD has been awesome and pretty much on the money with what it picks out. Only thing is as with most detectors, gold and silver show up in the lower numbers, so you cant always dismiss the lows as trash.
Excellent – Intermediate user
